Being out under the stars and capturing the night sky has taken me to many beautiful places and introduced me to amazing photography friends. This photo was taken in the summer of 2021 in the wilderness near my home. These flowers are called anemones or Pasque flowers, Anemone occidentalis. These are the seedheads that form after blooming. This was such a beautiful night in a beautiful place.

A crazy middle of the night hike to this lake made for an amazing experience. I was able to watch the comet Neowise soar across the sky, seemingly over the top of Mt. Shasta. If you look closely, you can see the lights of the climbers going up Avalanche gulch.

A cold January night at the fire Iookout was filled with stars. The spiral arm of the milky way is visible as well as the Andromeda galaxy. Unfortunately, this lookout burned in the Monument fire of 2021. I’m so glad I was able to get this shot.
